It was 2 am on a Tuesday in late 2023 when Mehak and Sunny heard the sound that would change their lives forever.
Their beloved golden retriever, Biscuit, was struggling to settle on his bed. At 12 years old, he had been increasingly restless at night, but that night was different. The soft whimper he let out — quiet, resigned, heartbreaking — cut straight through them. They rushed to his side, helped him up, and sat on the cold floor beside him for the rest of the night.
The vet had already told them Biscuit needed a better resting environment. "He's not in danger," the vet said, "but he needs a good, supportive place to rest — that will make a real difference to his comfort."
They searched everywhere. They drove to every pet store in Sydney. They ordered beds online — three, four, five of them. Some were too soft. Some were too firm. Some fell apart within weeks. None of them were designed with a senior dog's joints in mind. Not really.
"We kept thinking — why is this so hard? Why isn't there something that actually works for dogs like Biscuit?"
Over the next year, Mehak and Sunny became obsessed. They researched foam density, pressure distribution, and material quality. They spoke with pet owners across Australia and learned what dogs truly needed from a resting surface — and what the market was failing to provide.
They partnered with a small Australian manufacturer in early 2024 and spent months testing prototypes — on Biscuit, and on other senior dogs in their local community whose owners had heard about their mission through word of mouth.
The customer feedback was overwhelming. Dogs seemed more settled and comfortable. Owners were sending messages with tears in their eyes, grateful that their pets finally had a proper place to rest.
In early 2025, Pets Heaven officially launched — not as a business, but as a promise to every dog and every family who deserved better.
Biscuit passed away peacefully in April 2024, at the age of 13. He spent his final months sleeping more soundly on the very first Pets Heaven prototype, more settled and comfortable than he had been in years. Mehak and Sunny keep his photo on their desk every single day.

The Dog Who Started It All
Biscuit was a golden retriever with a personality bigger than any room he walked into. He loved morning walks along the Yarra, stealing socks, and falling asleep with his head on their feet.
When Biscuit began to slow down in his senior years, Mehak and Sunny refused to accept that discomfort was simply "part of getting old." That refusal became Pets Heaven.
Thanks to the orthopedic bed they developed, Biscuit spent his final months sleeping soundly and comfortably, resting with the peace and dignity every dog deserves.

Brownie joined the Pets Heaven family as a wide-eyed dachshund pup — and immediately claimed the softest bed in the house as his own. It was only fitting.
